A Reading That Changed How I Saw Myself

Before everything starts, I'll give you some context about me.
I was the class clown growing up. Goofy, loud, the kind of kid who could make anyone laugh. People loved being around me — or at least, they loved the version of me I brought to school every day. Bubbly. Energetic. Always "on."
And honestly? I loved it too. That part was real.
But there was another part of me that I didn't quite have words for yet.
The Family I Grew Up In
From the outside, my family looked wonderful. Both my parents were professionals. We were comfortable, well-off, respected in our community. People genuinely admired us.
Inside the house, things were a little more... complicated. There were unspoken rules I learned early: smile, don't cry, don't voice your opinion, be perfect in grades, don't show weakness. I became very good at performing okayness. So good, in fact, that I didn't even realise I was performing.
I loved my family. I still do. I just didn't know that what I was carrying wasn't something everyone carried. I thought this was simply what life felt like.
The Stranger Who Knew - My Mentor
When I was young, someone took me to visit a fortune teller.
I was skeptical — I mean, of course I was. I was a curious, analytical kid and this all seemed a bit... out there. But I went along with it, half-amused, half-intrigued.
He turned out to be my future mentor in Chinese Bazi Fortune Telling. But at that moment, he was just a quiet man looking at the details of my birth chart.
Then he said something that stopped me completely.
"You were never truly happy before you turned 18."
I didn't cry. It wasn't a dramatic movie moment. But something shifted — quietly, gently — like a window cracking open in a room that had been sealed for too long.
Here was a stranger, using an ancient system I knew nothing about, who had looked at the blueprint of my life and simply... knew. Without me saying a word.
That was the moment I fell in love with fortune telling. Not because of magic. But because of what it gave me — something I hadn't even known I needed.
Someone finally saw me.
Acknowledgement Is Power
I've thought about that moment a lot over the years.
What made it so powerful wasn't the prediction. It was the recognition. The feeling of having your quiet, private experience of life — the one you've never spoken aloud — reflected back to you clearly and without judgment.
For a long time I couldn't even feel my own feelings properly. I had spent so many years managing everyone else's perception of me that I'd lost touch with my own inner world. But that reading gave me something solid to hold onto: this is real, and it can be known.
That was the seed of everything.
I started my way to spiritual guidance
I started formally studying fortune telling in 2023 — Bazi, Tarot, Lenormand. And through that process, something unexpected happened.
I softened.
I used to be quite stubborn, set in my ways, quietly judgmental (I'll own that!). But when you spend time learning about the inherent differences between people — why someone is wired the way they are, what they're quietly navigating, how they experience the world — it becomes very hard to stay rigid.
You just end up with more love. For others, and eventually, for yourself.
Why I'm Here
I started Soul Arcana because I believe deeply in this kind of knowing.
Not fortune telling as a party trick or a novelty — but as a genuine tool for self-understanding. A way of saying:
here is who you are, here is what you've been through, here is how you're seen by the world — and all of it makes sense.
If you've ever felt unseen, or like the life you show people doesn't quite match what's happening inside you — I think you might find something meaningful here.
I'm glad you found your way to this little corner of the internet. 🌙
